“Blackening the chamfers” – a typical feature of the Stradivari style
An aspect, perhaps not fundamental but interesting, of classical Cremonese violin making is the practice of blackening the chamfers of the scroll, a peculiar characteristic present in almost all the instruments of Antonio Stradivari. Of course, this is a humble approach to an inspiration taken from maybe the most talented artisans in the world! This brush is not for sale, but only a prototype – an attempt to understand harmonies, proportions and techniques.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in a brush like this one. Of course things are in evolution and will be developed in the next few months!
